Artist Statement:
My hands are drawn to sculpt people – heads, figures, and symbolically, all of humanity. The expression in a brow or bowed head is incredibly powerful. A bit of clay placed here or there on a well-sculpted piece speaks volumes. Creating and exploring faces brings me closer to understanding myself and others in a fundamental, nonverbal way.
Artist Biography:
A professional sculptor for over fifteen years, Michael Alfano creates fine Art bronzes, portraits, and monumental works that are figurative-based, philosophical and evocative. His sculptures are in galleries, private collections, parks, and museums worldwide. He first studied sculpting the figure from the model at the Art Students league of new York and has continued with master classes. In juried exhibitions, Michael has earned over fifty awards, including the designation “Sculptor of the Year”.
