Roy Hughes

Orange Lamborghini by Roy Hughes
Orange Lamborghini

Artist Statement:

With a honed eye and a designer’s sensibility, Roy Hughes employs color, line, shape, and texture to produce images of unusual beauty form the deceptively commonplace. His creative use of color brings unexpected drama to familiar objects and scenes – often times challenging the viewer to conceptually reconsider the subject matter presented. His remarkably varied palette can be subtle and alluring or vibrantly intense, evoking a dream-like quality or at times even abstracting the subject itself. Hughes composes his images in a way that brilliantly interprets contour and pattern, imploring his audience to ponder the subtleties of this hitherto unexplored microcosm around us. Chrome, water, sky, and wood appear in somewhat expected settings but Hughes pictorially morphs them in a manner that offers a unique and often entertaining perspective.
