Ben Havens Sunrise Waves
Artist Statement
Ben Havens is passionate about capturing the spiritual in nature through digital photography. He uses natural light that often reflects off of the landscapes and creates a spiritual effect in the various cycles of nature. For example in “Sunrise Waves”, at the beach, the sun rises over the orange horizon as a volcanic yellow ball and reflects a bright hew over the dark waves and rocks. Also, in “Illumination”, nestled behind the leaves, the sun illuminates the emerald and cranberry-colored foliage. Finally, in “Winter Trees”, the sun casts a pink sheen on the ribs of the snow as it peeks behind the bare trees. The trees personified as people are standing naked in the cold with the warm sun, blessing them and casting a shadow behind them.
