Artist Statement
Most of my works are inspired by my spiritual journey. It represents the wholeness of my life and my feeling: joy and sorrow, happiness and sadness, light and darkness, earth and heaven.
My work is done with dyed and painted material, and the artistic work involves cutting, patching, and stitching. The colors reflect various images. Mostly the combination of white, yellows and light orange represents the Holy Spirit. The pink and violet purple represents the images of faith in the Love of God. The red and blue represents the image of ego and self-consciousness. The black represents the image of pain, suffering and darkness.
During the last few years, I realized and accepted myself as a simple human being and it was reflected in my work. The colors are shapes became simpler and I looked for the themes based on the common things I found around me, like chairs, aprons, letters, and numbers. Even now, I feel the motions of making art are the same as motions of everyday living.
I guess at the end of journey in my life, my working process is influenced by the rhythm of living as a woman, as a mother, as an artist, and a simple human being. After all, life is a journey.
