Parade along Massachusetts Avenue, looking toward Buckman Tavern.
"Picture taken from the roof of the building on site of Douglas Undertaking Rooms. A 19th of April parade about 1890 (or before). The strange contraption is the advertising display of Fred L. Yuill (most of the local tradesmen and artisans entered their carts in the parade.) Yuill called himself Fred L. Jewell. He was an eccentric chap - a painter. He managed our local baseball team, calling it the "Effljays." He practically limited his painting to two colors - red and green. And once told me of our most aristocratic matrons who wished her barn painted that it would be "red or green or go to Hell!"
