| Description |
April 19th activities along Massachusetts Avenue, 1899.
"This is a typical April 19th of the period around 1900. The buildings are Spauldings store, where the library bulletin board now stands, Mr. Charles T. West's office, and part of H. V. Smith's paper store, both on the site of the Arcade Building.
Bicycles and buggies were our mode of conveyance. The tent holds a wicked side-show of the period. Probably some poor child billed as one who eats snakes alive, or something equally edifying for the youth of that period. Those were happy days." |
