Description
|
| Rankin House, Massachusetts Avenue, 1890.
"This is another view of the Rankin house taken in the summer. It is hard to believe that so few years ago the center of Lexington presented such a delightfully rural appearance. The construction of the Hunt Building in 1892 presented some difficulties for, in digging the cellar, a spring was encountered and our local paper carried this interesting news item: Mr. Hunt found a fine spring in the cellar of his new building of such quantity that he is considering putting a windmill on the building to supply water to the tenants."
