| Description |
View down Waltham Street from Massachusetts Avenue, hand-colored, 1890.
"Here is a view down Waltham Street from the [Massachusetts] Avenue. On left is Dr. Holmes' house and office, on the right side is Dr. Tilton's office. In the distance is a load of hay accompanied by Dr. Holmes' son, Frank. Dr. Holmes' house was always known as the "no front door house" as the entrance was from Waltham Street and not from the [Massachusetts] Avenue. Dr. Holmes' barn is our Post Office. The residence on the opposite corner must date back to near 1800. It has been moved back, turned around and now is occupied by a little store and barber shop." |
