| Description |
Dio Lewis School building.
"This is still another view of this imposing building. High Schools in rural communities were rare. Their place was taken by academys and seminaries such as this. In addition to health education which Dr. Lewis stressed the young ladies received a general all-around education dwelling upon the graces which would fit them for a proper place in society.
Attention was given to amateur dramatics and the young ladies gave many performances. These were held in "Seminary Hall," the top floor of the building #1764-1770 Massachusetts Avenue, between Waltham Street and the Savings Bank Building." |
