|
| Young Men's Social Club, 1880.
"These were the leading young men of the period. Following age-old custom, they formed a Social Club, with headquarters over Mr. Saville's store. That would be in the old part of the building (since torn down) now occupied by Smith's paper store and then located where the Library bulletin board stands. Sunday afternoon walks were part of their good times.
The young men are (left to right): BACK ROW William Adair, Harry Chandler, Austin Locke, Charles Adair, Walter Ham, William Jackson.
CENTER ROW James Glenn, George Phelps, Herbert Locke (front), Charles Butters, William Glenn (front), temporary resident, Quincy Bicknell.
FRONT ROW George Conant, George Russell, Henry Turner, Frank Simonds, Herbert Tuttle, William Chessell"
