| Description |
Thomas Cosgrove.
"Born in Ireland, came to Lexington in 1854. A fine Irishman of the old type. Enlisted in Civil War. Captured 7 rebels at one time unaided. Received the Medal of Honor from Congress. Spent most of his time under a roving commission, pretty much as a spy. Was one of the first two Union soldiers to enter Richmond. Carried on a small farm on Maple Street."
(Cataloger's note: See Charles Hudson's History of Lexington, 1913 ed., Vol. I, p. 451; Vol II, p.129-130.) |
