Businesses in Lexington Center.
Photographs and negatives of places of commerce in and around Lexington Center. Most are located on Massachusetts Avenue.
One of earliest businesses is Spaulding's Store, photo taken between 1854 and 1868. There are photographs of: streetscape of Massachusetts Avenue from 1943, including the traffic light on the corner of Waltham Street and Massachusetts Avenue; streetscape of Massachusetts and Muzzey Streets from 1936 including Lexington Trust Company, Smith's Paper Store, Marshall's Arcade Building and Marshall's Undertaking Rooms and Chapel; Fiske Brothers on Massachusetts Avenue next to the Lexington Savings Bank before it was remodelled in the 1920's; and Everett S. Locke, plumbing and hardware, as well as street views from the 1960s located around #1874 Massachusetts Avenue, which include Fosters's and Lexington Federal Bank.
