Hurricanes of 1938 and 1955.
This folder contains photographs and negatives of the hurricane of 1938, and the flood that resulted from the one of 1955.
A hurricane of historic proportions hit Lexington in 1938. There was extensive damage, especially to trees, as shown in the photo near Buckman Tavern, and others near Cary Memorial Hall, Hancock Street, and Winthrop Road. There are also images of the Concord River flood, after the hurricane in 1955.
