Photo folder: WHEATON HOMESTEAD, MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE
Wheaton Homestead, 1133 Massachusetts Avenue, East Lexington.
Photographs and negatives show the changes of this farm house.
Around 1880, the house had a picket fence. Two posed images at that time show family, horses, dogs, and carriages outside of the front of the house. By 1898 the picket fence is gone, and the front entry has been extended. There is also a porch with a decorative railing from the front entry around one side of the house. The added structures around the back are still in evidence. By 1964, those structures are still there. The small porch has been moved to the side of the house, and the old trees are gone.
