Map showing the rides of Paul Revere, William Dawes and Dr. Prescott, April 18-19, 1775. Arranged and edited by James O. Fagan; drawn by I. A. Chisholm, Suffolk Registry of Deeds, Boston. Handwritten note by Edwin B. Worthen on back: "While this is not an old map it has an interesting story. James O. Fagan was a Scotchman who, after wandering in different parts of the world, landed in Boston and secured a job as railroad signal-tower man. It not being exacting work he spent his spare time in writing his views on the relations between capital and labor. Some of these articles were printed and caught the eye of President Theodore Roosevelt, who called Mr. Fagan to Washington and encouraged him to continue his studies. As an elderly man, Mr. Fagan was Custodian at the Old South Meeting-house where I became well-acquainted with him. He often remarked upon the number of tourists with whom he talked who wished to follow Revere's route to Lexington, and to the lack of material to give them. One day, early in 1929 he came out to see me, bringing a map he had drawn which proposed to have printed to be sold to tourists. As his map was only a plain outline I suggested that its appeal would be increased by the addition of figures, houses, etc. which I then supplied to his great satisfaction. Though Mr. Fagan has been dead for some years the map is still printed and sold and makes an excellent souvenir or gift. Edwin B. Worthen"
