||250th Anniversary proclamation (unsigned, undated), Town of Lexington Board of Selectmen, April 1963.
An announcement from the Selectmen proclaimed that April 20 and 21, 1963 have been designated for the special purpose of observing the 250th Anniversary of the Incorporation of the Town of Lexington.
Attached to the proclamation is a handwritten note by Edwin B. Worthen, Jr.:
"The 250th Anniversary Committee asked the Selectmen if they would issue a proclamation. The Selectmen suggested that the Committee write if for them, so Charley (Charles E.) Parks, Chairman of the Committee, asked me if I would do it for them. I turned it over to them two days later, on April 5, and they (Ch. Parks) got approval of his group and turned it over to Alan Adams so that the Selectmen could sign it the following Monday evening. They expected it to be in the Minute-Man (the Committee, that is) but it wasn't.
However, it was read in at least some of the churches on Sunday morning, April 21 and on Sunday evening, April 21 it was read at Cary Hall by Ch. Parks just before I gave my slide talk. EBW, Jr."
