Building Contest

Enter your creation in the Building Contest. Build by yourself or as a group! Ask at the Children’s Room desk for a Rule Sheet and Entry Form. Entries must be dropped off, with a completed entry form, on Thursday, June 18 any time between 2:00-8:30 pm.

This year's judges are Police Chief Corr (local hero), Josh Funk (local author), and Kate (librarian).

Workshops

LEGO tower

Creative Building: Towers - for grades K-2
10:00-11:00 am & 12:00-1:00 pm

Children are encouraged to problem-solve and build creatively while creating a tower.

Attendance is limited. Sign up online beginning Monday, June 8 at 7:00 pm. Phone reservations begin at 7:30 pm.

Animation Alive - for grades 3-6
2:00-4:00 pm

Working in pairs, kids are introduced to the principles of stop-motion animation, storytelling, and camera work. Bring your imagination and creativity, we'll provide the equipment, props and expertise. Final movie files will be available to download so students can share with family and friends.

The Lego Movie (released 14 February) is the latest big-budget incarnation of one of the world's most popular toys. Yet Lego is more than a global brand. Tom Dyckhoff explores its fascinating relationship with architecture, and argues that it has changed the way we think about buildings.
