Explore local ecosystems:

Go for a walk and explore different ecosystems in our area: a neighborhood park, a backyard garden, a conservation trail – what do you see? Are there anything different about different areas?

Plant a terrarium:

Bring the great outdoors inside and make a terrarium! Not sure where to start, we have lots of books at the Library full of ideas!

Create a nature journal:

Keep a record of the amazing things you observe in nature by starting your very own nature journal.

Plant a garden or just plant a seed:

If you have space a home, plant a garden!  But seeds only need light, food, and water to grow.  In a small pot or plastic cup, plant a few grass, bean, or flower seeds and watch the grow!

Make recycling art!

Dive into your recycling bin and create some art!

Build an insect hotel!

A simple bug hotel can really encourage and support biodiversity in your garden by attracting various insects and helps grow the ecosystem by giving bugs a place to naturally visit. Head to your backyard or take a hike to gather material (twigs, leaves, bark) and think creatively about your structure (small pots, an old bird house with the front removed, wooden crate – think of something that would withstand the elements) and fill your structure with items for your hotel (use things like toilet paper tubes, small clay pots, rocks to break up the space and provide hidey-holes).
