Adult Summer Reading, June 15 - August 29: Road Trip!

How to Play:

  1. Visit the Idea Wall in the Library and pick a passenger sheet. Write your name and use a magnet to start your road trip at the Cary Library sign.
  2. Pick one challenge at each stop. Check out our suggested books [PDF] or find your own to complete the challenges.
  3. Move your tracker sheet along the map as you complete challenges. Travel to all 7 stops (read 7 books) to finish your road trip.
  4. Turn your tracker sheet into the desk with your email written on it by August 29th for a chance to win a Rancatore’s gift card!

Itinerary

STOP 1: Choose Your Passenger

  • Animal - Read a book that includes your favorite animal
  • Magical Creature - Read a book where a main character is a magical creature
  • Extinct Animal - Read a book that involves dinosaurs or bringing an extinct animal back to life

STOP 2: Choose Your Vehicle

  • VW Camper - Read a book written in or based in the 1960s
  • Ford Econoline - Read a book written in or based in the 1990s
  • Mercedes Sprinter - Read a book written in or based in the 2010s

STOP 3: Choose Your Sights

  • Mountains - Read a book with mountains on the cover or with hiking in the storyline
  • Museum - Read a book with a museum on the cover or with a character studying art or history
  • Beach - Read a book with a beach on the cover or with swimming in the storyline

STOP 4: Choose Your Music

  • Classical - Read a "classic" book or a book about classical music
  • Rock n Roll - Read a book about a rock star or with a character who plays rock music
  • Country - Read a book set in a place known for country music

STOP 5: Road Trip Mishap

  • Out of Gas! - Read a book in a series that hasn't been finished yet
  • We're Lost! - Read a book about an item that has gone missing
  • Detour! - Read a book you've been putting off

STOP 6: Choose Your Snack

  • Hot & Spicy - Read a book with a hint of spice
  • Healthy & Refreshing - Read an inner-work book
  • Satisfy A Craving - Read a cookbook about your favorite cuisine

STOP 7: Final Destination

  • Let's Do It Again - Reread a favorite book
  • Let's Go Abroad Next Time - Read a book that's been translated from another language
  • Let's Write About It - Read a travel memoir
